The Honda Civic X Cabin Air Filter is a high-quality filtration component located behind the glove box. It is constructed with multiple layers of pleated synthetic fiber or electrostatic paper, designed to capture microscopic particles before they enter the vehicle’s cabin through the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system.
Compatibility: Honda Civic (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021) — All variants (1.8L, 1.5L Turbo, Type R).
OEM Part Number Reference: 80292-TBA-A11 / 80292-TF0-G01.
Material: High-efficiency particulate media (some versions include activated carbon for odor removal).
Dimensions: Approximately 21cm x 20.5cm x 3cm (standard fit for 10th Gen Civic).
Replacing your AC filter regularly (every 10,000 to 15,000 km) offers several key advantages:
Cleaner Air Quality: It acts as a barrier against dust, pollen, mold spores, and road debris, ensuring the air you breathe inside the car is fresh.
Protects the HVAC System: A clean filter prevents dirt from accumulating on the AC evaporator core, which helps prevent “musty” smells and expensive repairs.
Improved Cooling Efficiency: A clogged filter restricts airflow, forcing your AC to work harder. A fresh filter ensures maximum airflow and faster cooling of the cabin.
Health Protection: Essential for drivers with allergies or respiratory issues, as it traps fine particles and pollutants that could trigger symptoms.
Changing the AC filter in a Civic X is a simple 5-minute task that requires no tools.
Open the Glove Box: Empty the contents of the glove box.
Release the Tabs: Push the side walls of the glove box inward to release the stoppers, allowing the glove box to drop down further toward the floor.
Remove the Filter Cover: You will see a rectangular plastic cover. Squeeze the clips on the left and right sides of this cover to pop it off.
Swap the Filter: Slide out the old, dirty filter. Slide in the new filter, ensuring the “Air Flow” arrow on the side of the filter is pointing DOWN.
Reassemble: Snap the plastic cover back into place and lift the glove box until the side tabs click back into their tracks.
“If you notice a weak airflow from your vents or a lingering dusty smell when you turn on the AC, it’s a sign your filter is likely clogged and needs immediate replacement.”
